Aaron Jones Could See More Targets

Aaron Jones

With a major void in the Green Bay Packers passing game this season, could Aaron Jones benefit from that reality? After the Davante Adams trade, which sent him to the Raiders, Aaron Rodgers not only lost his favorite target, but perhaps the most important one as well.

Despite Allen Lazard taking over as Adams’ replacement, there are 169 targets up for grabs and Lazard will almost certainly not inherit all of them. Logically, Jones should see a bigger workload as he was second on the team with 65 targets last year. In a Packers passing attack that tends to throw around the line of scrimmage, it only makes sense that the running backs could become more involved. With the presence of AJ Dillon, the Packers can effectively use both running backs at the same time, keeping defenses even more off balance.

After Dillon emerged in 2021, bettors and fantasy managers could be scared off, but with the team losing Adams, Jones’ value should skyrocket in 2022. It may not be too far fetched to see an Alvin Kamara-Mark Ingram dynamic from Green Bay, like we saw worked well in New Orleans a few years ago. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Jones be effective running the ball, while setting a career high in receiving yards, going over the 500-yard mark.
