Some analysts mocked Josh Rosen to the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2018 NFL draft. In a way, they may be right after all.
This week, the Browns will be working out two veteran quarterbacks: the aforementioned Rosen and AJ McCarron. With Deshaun Watson’s immediate future uncertain, Cleveland is looking for insurance options for what could be a poor quarterback room. Jacoby Brissett is currently set to start in Watson’s absence, and Josh Dobbs is listed behind the two on the depth chart.
Either free-agent option could provide a little extra depth at the sport’s most important position. However, neither are particularly promising. There’s a reason the two are unemployed, and the days of rehabilitating Rosen’s upside seem to have passed.
The Browns are currently listed with +275 odds to win the AFC North via DraftKings. Don’t expect a McCarron or Rosen acquisition to move that line at all.
