Myles Garrett May Play Sunday Despite Crash

If you needed any more proof that Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is not human, you got it this week.

Garrett was involved in a car accident on Monday. He and his passenger, the only two involved, survived with non-life-threatening injuries. By the looks of his now-totalled Porsche, things could have been a lot worse.

Thankfully, Garrett left the accident with his life. He also left the car with sprains in his shoulder and biceps, along with the bumps and scrapes that come with such an incident. The injuries have rendered him questionable for Week 4.

He cleared concussion protocol. He left the hospital. And now, he may play on Sunday.

When will Myles Garrett play again?

Garrett is expected to return to Cleveland facilities on Thursday. While us mortals may be inclined to take a few days off, Garrett seems determined to put the accident behind him. There’s no better way to do that than by beating the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.

Given his status, it seems unlikely that the elite edge rusher misses more than Sunday’s contest. Keeping his health keeps him viable for Defensive Player of the Year, an award FanDuel has given him the second-best odds to win (+600). Missing a singular game shouldn’t move that needle much, so bettors shouldn’t hesitate to lay cash on a long-term wager.

He may not be 100% for Week 4’s action, but his very presence means a lot to a Browns defense that has not yet lived up to its potential. Atlanta’s offensive line offers a “get right” opportunity for the unit and a “get well” salutation for Garrett.

A final decision has not been made on Garrett’s status, but the mere conversation is a blessing. Head coach Kevin Stefanski put it best.

“Very, very grateful that he’s OK.”
