Malcolm Brogdon's True Passion
We hear it all the time. A young player thrusted into the spotlight is asked cookie cutter questions as they introduce themselves to the National Basketball Association. What does making it to the NBA mean to you? Is this a dream come true? How hard have you worked for this?
I'm pretty sure I asked better questions when I covered sports for my elementary school newspaper.
Every once in a while, though, someone comes around to shake things up. Basketball is cool, but it isn't the centerpiece of their life that we all expect.
Just ask Malcolm Brogdon. "Basketball is my job, I love it," started Brogdon, in a piece for Andscape. "It's the dream. But honestly, my life passion is not basketball. It's helping people and using my resources that I have gotten from basketball."
Brogdon has put his money where is mouth is. He's done an incredible job in East Africa, where he's viewed as even more of a hero than he is in the states. His Hoops2O foundation has already surpassed the $225,000 goal it set. Since, multiple wells have been constructed, providing fresh water to about 7,500 people in each African community they touch.
Hoops2O has gained funding an influence throughout the years, gaining momentum to spread throughout Africa and change thousands of lives through gifts the rest of us take for granted. That's how you craft a legacy.
