Thaddeus Young and the Greatest Graphic Ever
Make no mistake, Thaddeus Young has made a nice career for himself. The former lottery pick made an All-Rookie team. He's been a contributor for nine playoff teams across four organizations and has shown to be a useful bench asset deep into his NBA journey.
With that said, he's never made an All-Star team. Or an All-Defense team. Or an All-NBA team. He's never won a championship. He and I are equally close to the Hall of Fame.
Sorry, Mr. Young.
Young was a nice little player. But if you watched your first NBA game on February 28, 2018, he was a basketball legend. Fox Sports, airing his Pacers game, showed a graphic that will live in infamy.
Among players with 800 games, only five have averaged at least 13.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 49% from the field and 30% from deep.
Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James.
Thaddeus Young.
Subsequent to the shock factor of the graphic and the pure statistical malpractice at hand, Fox Sports got put on blast across social media. It will live on as one of the greatest nights in NBA Twitter history.
Thaddeus Young: Hall of Famer, for a moment.
