David Montgomery and the Worst Graphic of All Time
David Montgomery is a pretty good football player, and was an even better collegiate prospect. He deserves his props as a big-bodied back with the talent to carve out a starting role on the Chicago Bears.
Under no circumstances did he deserve the praise one ESPN graphic gave him.
Hyping up players is part of the job for commentary crews and television channels alike. Generating excitement is good for business. Lying to people isn't (though that seems to be up for debate these days).
A graphic described the Iowa State back as Running Back Frankenstein, with the feet of former second-overall pick Saquon Barkley, the strength of former fourth-overall pick Ezekiel Elliott, the vision of All-Pro Le'Veon Bell, and the athleticism of former first-rounder Sony Michel.
Montgomery is a good running back. He is not the greatest amalgamation of traits the league has ever seen. Glad we got that one cleared up.
