In the iconic movie, “Friday Night Lights,” based on H.G. Bissenger’s book, the father of Odessa-Permian’s star fullback gets so frustrated with his son’s fumbling that he tapes a football to the player’s hands.
Washington Commanders first round pick Jahan Dotson has a better approach.
"I approach that (ball) as a million dollars,” he told reporters. “It's a million dollars in the air. If you want it, you go get it."
Which is exactly what Dotson did at Penn State. The Nittany Lions wide receiver had the lowest drop rate in the nation in 2021 at just 2.2%. In 288 targets, Dotson had just 10 drops, a 3.5-percent drop rate.
To quarterback Carson Wentz, who is trying to find his way with this third team, Dotson might be worth more than a million bucks.
