Jameis Winston: A Changed Man?
Jameis Winston, for all intents and purposes, was the human embodiment of chaos during his quarterbacking tenure in Florida. From sneaking onto the field while suspended at Florida State University to a 30 touchdown, 30 interception season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winston always keeps fans on their toes.
Epitomizing the gunslinger stereotype, Winston's stats compare similarly to Brett Favre. After the 2021 season, Winston had thrown a touchdown pass on 5% of his career passes and interceptions on 3.3% of them. Favre's career marks? Exactly the same.
Now, we know Winston is not a Canton-bound passer. In fact, he's quite a few steps away from elite, too. But in New Orleans, Winston received a fresh coaching philosophy that has helped redefine his talents.
Prior to a season-ending knee injury, Winston held a 14-3 TD-INT ratio and led the Saints to a 5-2 record. Now, we'll get to see if it was a fluky trip to the French Quarter or a fundamental shift from reckless to responsible.
