Justin Fields' Leadership Transcends His Talent
For now, Justin Fields is the franchise quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Will he pan out? It's too early to tell, especially after a rookie year clouded by a barren roster.
If there's one thing Bears fans can take to heart, it's that their quarterback is an incredible leader.
Following Teven Jenkins' first game action, the rookie tackle struggled mightily. It wasn't pretty and the Bears lost handedly, but the game offered a chance for Fields to showcase why he was the No. 2 selection.
Asked what he said to Jenkins after his struggles, Fields reminded him that the NFL is supposed to be hard.
"In my first start, I had one passing yard," he said.
It was a teaching moment for Fields and one his teammate won't forget. Despite his quiet demeanor with the press, Fields has what it takes to lead a group of grown men to the promise land. Now, everything else has to fall into place.
