You’d have to understand if the three starting quarterbacks in the NFC East that face the Washington Commanders opted to meet for group therapy sessions. Or at least hold a weekly phone call, seeking support from their fellow quarterback.
Because twice a season Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts, New York’s Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott of Dallas have to face the two-edged monster known as the Commander’s Montez Sweat and Chase Young.
Perhaps they have chosen to forget what it’s like to face those two. After all, Sweat only played 10 games last season because of a broken jaw and Young missed nine games with a hamstring injury followed by an ACL. When both were healthy in 2020 they combined for 16.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 10 passes defensed, six forced fumbles and one interception.
Sweat is expected to be ready for Week 1 and will have to pick up the slack while Young fully recovers from his knee surgery. Understandably, Washington coach Ron Rivera is excited about the duo’s potential.
"[Sweat's] got a tremendous skill set," Rivera told reporters. "As he continues to grow and learn and understand how to use it, he becomes more and more dynamic as well.
“I think it's the same thing with Chase. Once we get Chase back on the field it is understanding how to use his skill set, not just the raw power that he has, or the athleticism."
Imagine how Hurts, Jones and Prescott feel after pondering that statement?
