THE SAINTS FILE Home field: Caesars Stadium Coach: Dennis Allen Offensive star – RB Alvin Kamara Defensive star – CB Marshon Lattimore 2021 Season: Failed to Make Playoffs Super Bowls – 2009 Greatest Player – QB Drew Brees Factoid: Nickname, “Who Dat Nation”. By Lenn Robbins Who Dat team with seismic changes? No team in the NFL goes into the 2022 season with bigger key questions than the New Orleans Saints. Sure, the Broncos, Browns, Colts, Commanders, Falcons, 49ers, Seahawks, Steelers, and maybe Panthers, are going with new quarterbacks. And the Bears, Broncos, Bucs, Dolphins, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, Texans and Vikings are going with new coaches. But only the Broncos and Saints are going with new quarterbacks and new coaches. The Broncos have a proven commodity in QB Russell Wilson and a question mark first-year coach in Nathaniel Hackett. The Saints, have unproven commodities at quarterback – Jameis Winston – and coach, Dennis Allen. Who Dat! No Who Dat? Winston, of course, is infamous for his 30-for-30 season of 2019 when he threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions while with the Bucs. He’s is coming off a torn ACL. Allen is trying to fill the huge footprint left by Sean Payton, who coached the Saints for the last 15 seasons, leading them to their only Super Bowl victory. For a city that is more than accustomed to dealing with the unexpected, no less disaster, the Saints are about to usher in a new era. Who knows?! This is for certain. This city rolls with the punches like no other. Hurricanes come, hurricanes go, The Big Easy is indefatigable. Mardi Gras is as close to a public orgy of emotion and lust and wanton behavior as you’ll find. Whether your pleasure is Po’ Boys or oysters or etouffee or jambalaya or turtle soup, the Crescent City has a way of making the best out of the worst. So go ahead, throw a new coach and a new quarterback at Saints fans. Chances are they’ll still come marchin in.
